Visitors may now purchase tickets for Guggenheim Abu Dhabi in advance of the museum’s December 11 launch on Saadiyat Island. Visitors under the age of eighteen, UAE students, and those sixty years of age and over are admitted free of charge. General entrance is Dh70. Eligible organizations will also be eligible for discounted pricing.
The museum, which will showcase modern and contemporary art from the 1960s to the present, will be one of Abu Dhabi’s most significant new cultural attractions.
Guggenheim Abu Dhabi was created by the late Pritzker Prize-winning architect Frank Gehry. It features ten enormous sculpture cones and 28 interior galleries joined by a central atrium. Additionally, the museum has 23,000 square meters of outdoor exhibition space spread across its terraces and cones. The 11,600-square-meter museum will include pieces in the fields of painting, sculpture, installation, photography, moving images, and new media.
The museum claims that its collection and displays will investigate artistic links, exchanges, and lineages across various cultures and areas rather than adhering to a strictly chronological or geographical approach.
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi are working together to develop Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
