Hours after announcing a temporary suspension starting on September 4, Air Tanzania said on Friday that flights between Dar es Salaam and Moscow would resume on September 7.
The airline posted on Facebook, “The decision follows a routine risk assessment of the operating environment along the route,” but it did not elaborate on the reasons behind the decision to resume flights.
According to Flightradar24 data, Moscow airports have been among the most interrupted in the world recently as a result of repeated closures during drone attacks.
On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy issued a warning to insurance firms and airlines that Russian airspace was becoming “completely dangerous.”
Civil aviation is not threatened by Ukraine, he claimed, “but there will be drones in Russia’s skies and due notice must be taken.”
Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, claimed that this amounted to “state terrorism” and would make it more difficult to resume peace negotiations with Ukraine.
